Shalom! Peace Be Unto You
“Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”
– John 14:27 (NKJV)

The Bible is a remarkable book written in a remarkable language. Sometimes our English language does not do justice to the rich Hebrew words used to write certain passages and so, we somehow lose some of the in-depth meaning of the verses.
Consider John 14:27 where Jesus says “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.”
To fully grasp this verse let us see the meaning of Peace (Shalom in Hebrew). When a Jewish man says “shalom” he is saying something about “completeness (in number), soundness, wellness, wholeness, welfare, safety, and prosperity”.
In fact, the mention of Peace means you were basically wishing “wellness” to the hearer. Now see how much richer the verse becomes when we read it again! Jesus “left us COMPLETELY WHOLE, SAFE AND WELL”.
It doesn’t matter what our circumstances say, the truth of Scripture is that we are Whole, Safe, Well, Complete, Satisfied, and Provided For.
Jesus has given us His kind of peace, the peace that is calm in the midst of heavy storms, the peace that walks on water, the peace that ministers life to dead situations, the peace that is gentle even when unjustly treated, and much more the peace that is focused on purpose not comfort.
Remember His first words to the disciples in the resurrected body is… Peace Be Unto You!
You must, therefore, keep this truth right before your eyes till it totally becomes your reality. You must continually press into your Christ-given wholeness through continuous prayer and confession.
This is what the Lord has given you and expects from you, no more endless cycles of worries, anxieties, fear, moanings, lamentations, grumblings, murmurings, and complaining!
Yours is the rest of God… claim it in prayer by faith. Peace Be Unto You!
LET US PRAY:
In Jesus’ Name I declare I go out in joy and I’m led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before me, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands.
Father reveal yourself to me, cause me to encounter your righteousness and peace. May God’s righteousness and peace garrison my heart all year long.
Reconnect me Lord with your peace, give me peace in all areas of life in Jesus’ Name.
Amen!
