Follow Jesus’ Lead
59 He said to another man, “Follow me.”
But he replied, “Lord, first let me go and bury my father.”
60 Jesus said to him, “Let the dead bury their own dead, but you go and proclaim the kingdom of God.”

We continue to follow Christ on the journey of purpose as we meditate on God’s word with prayers. Let’s regurgitate on some of the truth received in the past ten days to get as much juice as we can.
It’s our Bible Meditation Saturday, let’s chew and pray the word.
Luke 9:57-62,
57 As they were walking along the road, a man said to him, “I will follow you wherever you go.”
58 Jesus replied, “Foxes have dens and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head.”
59 He said to another man, “Follow me.”
But he replied, “Lord, first let me go and bury my father.”
60 Jesus said to him, “Let the dead bury their own dead, but you go and proclaim the kingdom of God.”
61 Still another said, “I will follow you, Lord; but first let me go back and say goodbye to my family.”
62 Jesus replied, “No one who puts a hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God.”
Father God, help me to put you first above all else. May purpose be my overriding priority. Help m to put aside self-preferences and personal comfort for the purpose you have called me to.
In Jesus’ Name I declare, I will follow God and my purpose in Him above all else. I put aside personal preferences and comfort for the sake of the kingdom. My priority at all times and in all situations is the kingdom Amen
Col 3:9-10,
Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices 10 and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.
In Jesus’ Name I declare I put off my old self and embrace the new Christ has for me.I will not hold on to past failures or past successes. I put on the new one. I am being renewed in the knowledge of my identity in God.
Titus 3:4-8,
4 But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, 5 he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, 6 whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7 so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life. 8 This is a trustworthy saying. And I want you to stress these things, so that those who have trusted in God may be careful to devote themselves to doing what is good. These things are excellent and profitable for everyone.
Dear Father God, thank you for saving me. Thank you for the gift of the Holy Spirit and grace to know you and your power. Fill me afresh with your Holy Spirit. Help me to live out my identity as an heir of Christ my savior.
In Jesus’ Name I declare, I am fully devoted to doing what is good, excellent, and profitable in the kingdom. I will not be distracted, I will not wander away from purpose.
Romans 6:19-23,
19 I am using an example from everyday life because of your human limitations. Just as you used to offer yourselves as slaves to impurity and to ever-increasing wickedness, so now offer yourselves as slaves to righteousness leading to holiness. 20 When you were slaves to sin, you were free from the control of righteousness. 21 What benefit did you reap at that time from the things you are now ashamed of? Those things result in death! 22 But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life. 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
I offer myself as a slave to righteousness in Jesus’ Name. I refuse to be a slave to sin, impurities, and wickedness. I am free from sin and I am a slave to God. I am Holy and I have eternal life in Jesus’ Name. Amen
Romans 13:14,
14 Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the flesh.[
In Jesus Name I clothe myself with the Lord Jesus Christ and I do not think about how to gratify the desires of the flesh. Help me Holy Spirit to stay clothed with Jesus Christ today and always. Amen
2 Corinthians 5:17,
17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!
In Jesus Name I declare I am in Christ, I am a new creation. The old is gone in my life. I live in the new. I have newness in all areas of life.
Ephesians 4:22
22 You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires;
I put off my former way of life. I put off all deceitful desires. I embrace the new I embrace God’s will. I embrace the kingdom. I embrace my purpose in Christ today and always in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
