Good or God
‘ I am always thinking of the Lord; and because he is so near, I never need to stumble or fall.’

One of the greatest tests of faith is something that seems quite harmless: the shortcut.
Moses faced a shortcut during his time in the desert (Exodus 32 & 33). He’d traveled from Egypt to Mount Sinai with a complaining and rebellious people, and the prospect of entering the Promised Land must have been attractive.
But would Moses say yes to the promise at the expense of God’s presence?
Thousands of years later, Jesus also encountered a shortcut in a desert. When Jesus was about to start His public ministry, Satan gave Him an opportunity to bypass the hardship ahead and skip straight to claiming authority over the nations. All Jesus had to do was worship him.
Would Jesus compromise to get with ease what God would deliver through suffering?
The fact that satan tried this tactic on the son of God says a lot about how effective he knows it can be.
Now, we all know Jesus successfully withstood satan’s ploy. He wasn’t the only one, Moses too weighed the option of staying in the desert or entering the promised land without God and he chose to stay back in the desert.
Why?
Because he desired God more than good.
Dear friend ‘Is God’s presence your ultimate goal?’ or do you just want to live a good life?
You must fall in love with God just like Moses did. You must have such a longing for intimacy with God that no shortcut will be worth your consideration. You must be willing to trade your comfort and convenience for God’s purpose.
This passion can only be ignited as you experience the presence of God as you spend time with Him in prayer and fellowship with His word. Chase after God with a sincere heart that seeks to be a friend of God not just one that seeks to leverage His power and flaunt His name.
LET US PRAY:
Dear Almighty God, our heavenly Father, Help me to get my priority right. Help me to live in reverence of you always. May your words fill my day-to-day thoughts.
Grant unto me the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Christ. Fill me with the love for your presence and essence beyond all human desires and wants.
I receive grace to stay in your will and purpose. I will never take the shortcut of the world, flesh, and satan.
In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
