Ask The Father
‘ Until now you’ve not been bold enough to ask the Father for a single thing in my name, but now you can ask, and keep on asking him! And you can be sure that you’ll receive what you ask for, and your joy will have no limits!’
– John 16:24 (TPT)

Do we ask too much of God?
Do we desire more than we should?
Is God weary of our longings and dreams?
In The Weight of Glory, C. S. Lewis responds to these questions this way:
It would seem that our Lord finds our desires not too strong, but too weak. We are half-hearted creatures, fooling about with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because He cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea. We are far too easily pleased.
As the people of Israel wandered in the wilderness, they looked back on their time in Egypt with selective memory. Although they had been in slavery, beaten, and oppressed… at least they’d had basic food. After God delivered them from Egypt with a powerful hand, parted the Red Sea, and rained heavenly bread from the sky, they looked over their shoulder and cried,
We remember the fish we ate in Egypt at no cost — also the cucumbers, melons, leeks, onions, and garlic. — Numbers 11:5
The Israelites stood in the wilderness with the Promised Land ahead of them and Egypt behind them. But instead of dreaming of the Glory Days that awaited in a land flowing with milk and honey, they remembered the cucumbers and onions of Egypt.
Freedom comes with responsibility but slaves take no responsibility because they live with little or no imagination.
As children of God, we have the freedom to become all we can and want to be. However, the responsibility is on us to push for it. It is no longer manna, it is about reaping what you sow.
Do you want a better life? You have to pray and work for it. And to stay in the kingdom, there is no room for small thinking. The God of abundance cannot raise children with a survival mentality, He raises champions and conquerors.
Beloved, it is time to march, run, skip, and press forward. No matter how good things might seem in the rearview mirror, what lies ahead can be better. It is time to dream big, to ask of God with boldness, and to believe that there is more for us.
We must always choose to believe God fulfills His promises and He does it in the most unusual ways and places.
In the attitude of shameless audacity as a local assembly, we would be having a night of prayers today, Friday, July 21, 2023, at our facility, Capstone Resource Center, 25 McEwen Street, Sabo, Yaba, Lagos.
The door opens by 10 pm and we will be praying through the night.
If you are far from our location and would like to be a part of this, then follow @capstoneonline on Youtube to connect tonite by 11 pm.
LET US PRAY:
Dear Heavenly Father, teach me to pray without ceasing. Help me know your presence as different from all other distractions and pleasures.
Lord, help me to know you more as ‘Father’ and teach me to spend time with you more than anything else the world offers.
Lord teach me to build you an altar deep within my heart and grant me the spirit of boldness to reveal you to the world till the earth receives you as her King.
May your kingdom be first and uppermost in my life today and always.
In Jesus’ Name. Amen
