Prayer For Urban Missions
‘ Now may the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, 21 equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.’
– Hebrews 13: 20-21

Living in rural areas can be very challenging. Life is generally slow and opportunities for commerce are quite limited. People tend to know and recognize each other easily while strangers don’t go unnoticed.
Urban centers are totally different, busyness is on the rampage, and quietness a scarcity. With the increase in commerce also comes an increase in crime, drug abuse, greed, etc.
Christ died for all, urban and rural dwellers.
Let’s not be deceived that the comfort of life in urban centers and megacities automatically means divine approval or heaven on earth to take the grace of God for granted.
A life without Christ, urban or rural, mega or mini city, developed or underdeveloped society, is a life with no hope.
LET US PRAY:
In Jesus Name;
1. We give thanks to God for the salvation of our souls and being qualified to be among the chosen.
2. Thank you God for the ultimate sacrifice by Christ which is made available to all.
3. I pray for the growth of the gospel in the major cities in this nation, may the Good news of Christ spread across our entire city.
4. I pray that the love of God which brings salvation will exude from me to every of my contacts in places of work, in my neighborhood and to as many come in contact with me today and every day.
5. May the word of God find true expression in our cities and bring light to all dark places.
6. I declare light of God in every nook and cranny of Lagos (wherever you live), may the work of darkness no longer have a hiding place in this city.
7. May the Lord empower believers to do the work of the evangelist in deed and in truth. May our conduct impact and influence lives positively to the glory of our King.
8. I pray for more kingdom laborers so that the work of soul winning will not suffer perdition.
9. I declare the kingdom of God over the city of Lagos in particular and Nigeria as a whole. The will of God is established and His kingdom reign supreme in this land.
10. In agreement with God’s desire that all men come to repentance, I declare massive salvation of the fulanis, hausas and different tribes in this city, may the light of salvation illuminate their minds.
11. I pray and declare that I receive everything good and necessary for doing God’s will and pleasing Him especially in the area of mission and reaching the unreached in the name of Jesus.
Hebrew 13:20-21
12. I pray that I will not fail in the ministry of reconciliation that God has committed into my hands. I receive fresh burden and zeal in Jesus name. 2 Cor 5: 18-19
13. I pray for divine wisdom and strategies in planning and implementation of urban missions. I ask for a release of fresh ideas from heaven that will lead to impact and massive harvest. James 1:5.
14. I pray for boldness and courage as we take the gospel to our neighbourhood and vicinities even as we hope for massive harvest. I ask that the Holy Spirit prepares their hearts ahead of our outreaches to them. Act 1:8
15. I pray for our House Fellowships, Evangelism unit, outreach to schools around us, Whitefield Foundation programs and other avenues we use for our urban mission programs; I declare that our efforts will be divinely multiplied and they will yield great results in Jesus name. Acts 2:47
16. I pray against every form of complacency and lack of zeal on our part based on the relative ‘comfort’ we experience as urban people. I ask for a fresh baptism of fire to leave our comfort zones.
I declare that I am committed and dedicated to the great commission in Jesus’ name. 2 Kings 19:31
Thank you Lord for answered prayers and the release of grace and power in Jesus’ Name. Amen
