Wrestle With God
So Jacob was left alone, and a man wrestled with him till daybreak. 25 When the man saw that he could not overpower him, he touched the socket of Jacob’s hip so that his hip was wrenched as he wrestled with the man.
– Genesis 32:24-25
When purpose matures, you recognize that you can’t survive except God is with you.

Our kind God is not impressed or attracted to half-heartedness, backward-thinking, easily distracted, shallow-minded people. Those are the lukewarm company.
God loves diligent seekers, hard chasers who are locked down in their desire and determination to experience all that God is. Those are Hot!
God is looking for those who will seek him diligently with all their heart. (Jeremiah 29:13)
Here steps in brother Jacob, read his story in Genesis 32:20-32. Though very successful with earthly riches, big family, big business, etc. He came to a night watch where he encountered God and got the real blessing, the blessings of understanding purpose and identity.
And that didn’t come on a platter, he literarily had to wrestle with God.
Beloved, there is something more than money, children, businesses, economic status, etc. It is maturing in purpose! When you mature in purpose you seek more than your personal pet projects.
And to really mature in purpose, we must seek Peniel; the face of God. God loves a chaser, one that wrestles and presses hard.
After the encounter, a new man with dominion was born, Israel and life will never be the same again. You too have to beseech heaven to give you a name.
When Purpose matures, God changes your name
– John the Baptist was supposed to be named after Zachariah. An angel showed up and changed the name to John. (Luke 1:59-63)
– Jesus could have been named after Joseph, but Purpose named him Jesus (Luke 2:21)
When Purpose matures, it will bring the following:
i. Clarify your name and your identity.
ii. Craft your association, and choose the people you walk with.
iii. Craft your value system. It will change your standards and principles.
iv. Influence your choice. What you do and where you go.
As you start this season of life, you require more than goal-setting, you need God-setting.
No matter your age, economic or relationship status, educational qualification, location, etc. God is not done with you yet. He is calling you to the next level, something new.
The new is usually scary and uncomfortable, but you must learn to trust God.
LET US PRAY:
Read Hebrew 11:24-26, Luke 5:36, Luke 2:21, Genesis 32:20-32
Dear Holy Spirit, show me my identity in the spirit. Give me that new name. Father, I open myself up for the new. Bring me into the new. Help me to accept the new and walk in the pioneering grace.
Father, release back to me my authority and my influence. Father show me my territory. Teach me how to be territorial. Make me governmental and territorial. I receive a conquering spirit.
Father, give me a new identity. let a new sound rise up from my life. Let the world hear a new sound from my life. I don’t want to be stale. I don’t want to be dead. Bring me into a new consciousness of what you are doing.
Father God, grow me up. Let purpose mature in my life. Show me what I need to mature. I don’t want to live on someone else’s grace, I don’t want to be a baby anymore, mature me, Lord!
Father, I refuse a wrong definition. I refuse the comfort of the old. I embrace the sacrifice of the new.
Lord, teach me how to make choices. Help me to make the right accurate choices.
Dear Lord, Help me to craft the right value systems. Let the indicator of my choice be purpose, not money. Father, I release my heart to you. Remove my eyes from the pleasures and treasures of Egypt. Let purpose shape my life and hold me strong.
Help me Lord to redesign my inner circle. Plant me among the right people. Show me the next level. Help me to make that shift.
Father, give me a new mindset as you bring me into the new. Teach me to think new and depart from the old mindset. Let the old lose its appeal to me. Teach me what you are changing God. Break me free from a conditioned mentality. Break me free from every limiting belief system.
I consecrate my heart. Lord Jesus Christ teach me your ways.
Amen.
