Fear is an incredible deterrent to exploits. It has an uncanny way of making people stop when they ought to go forward and in this process, they lose the laurels they could have claimed.

Today’s verse is pregnant with meaning.

Deborah though seemingly unqualified as a woman to lead a war campaign at a time when women were stifled in a largely patriarchal society, took up the challenge in faith. She anchored her confidence very firmly to a Word she heard and believed from the Lord.

Our society is filled with people who are quick to remind us of our weaknesses, and how unqualified we are for a particular task or assignment.

 

Our past failures and mistakes often playback in our minds hindering us from moving forward. 

Often times we come across people who are unable to deliver on some tasks that we are highly skilled and gifted in but because of some ‘norms’ and ‘traditions’, we sit quietly and let these things go bad.

It’s time to surmount courage and rise above limiting beliefs, people’s opinions, traditions, and fear of failure or rejection.

I urge you to be like Deborah. Take god at His word, step up to the plate, and do the uncommon.

Beloved, God has spoken, and his promises are sure so it’s your turn to take responsibility. Do not be fearful, Again I say Do not give in to fear.

 

Stand up in faith to make a difference and see God lift and honor you as He did Deborah!

 

LET US PRAY:

In Jesus’ Name, I declare I shake off the shackles of fear, limiting beliefs, and comfort zones. I arise in faith and fulfill my God-given assignment. I break free from every tradition of men and I step forward like Deborah to bring glory to God. So help me God. Amen.

This is a question we must repeatedly ask ourselves and give an answer to.
 
God is sovereign and unlimited in expression yet He will not violate, vandalize or arm-twist you and your will.
 
Jesus asked the question in Matthew 16, not out of a personality complex but to help His disciples get the right focus and keep the right attitude.
 
I’m sure He wanted them to remember that all the miracles were for a purpose not for show-off, fun, or feel-good experience.
 
This question if properly answered and internalized will redefine your relationship with your maker.

When you wake up and remember who Christ is to you, you should pray.
When you remember who He is to you, you should live to please Him.
When you fully appreciate who He is, you should be passionate to be like Him.
 
Struggles with selfish ambition, wealth accumulation, love for pleasure, and comfort are most probably because you have not given this question some deep thinking… Who is Jesus to you?
 
So pause a moment now and answer the question, “Who is Jesus to me?”

 

And while you talk about Him in glowing colors, take a look at your life and see if you really are living in accordance with who He is to you.

 

LET US PRAY:

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for saving me and setting me free from sin and satan. I declare that sin, flesh, and satan no longer have dominion over me for the same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead lives inside of me. I am a child of God. I am full of love for God and His community. I rise above all limits and hindrances now and always. Amen

Our Bible reading today is from the book of Proverbs in Chapter 7. It is a warning about the spirit of seduction. The Book of Proverbs usually uses the allegory of a woman to depict concepts.

 

Wisdom was also depicted by a woman, so do not label or misunderstand the passage, allow the Holy Spirit to interpret and show you what this illustration refers to in your personal life and your faith journey.

 

God bless you as you read, meditate and chant these wisdom letters.

 

Follow my advice, my son;
    always treasure my commands.
2 Obey my commands and live!
    Guard my instructions as you guard your own eyes.
3 Tie them on your fingers as a reminder.
    Write them deep within your heart.

 

4 Love wisdom like a sister;
    make insight a beloved member of your family.
5 Let them protect you from an affair with an immoral woman,
    from listening to the flattery of a promiscuous woman.

6 While I was at the window of my house,
    looking through the curtain,
7 I saw some naive young men,
    and one in particular who lacked common sense.


8 He was crossing the street near the house of an immoral woman,
    strolling down the path by her house.
9 It was at twilight, in the evening,
    as deep darkness fell.
10 The woman approached him,
    seductively dressed and sly of heart.
11 She was the brash, rebellious type,
    never content to stay at home.
12 She is often in the streets and markets,
    soliciting at every corner.


13 She threw her arms around him and kissed him,
    and with a brazen look she said,
14 “I’ve just made my peace offerings
    and fulfilled my vows.
15 You’re the one I was looking for!
    I came out to find you, and here you are!
16 My bed is spread with beautiful blankets,
    with colored sheets of Egyptian linen.


17 I’ve perfumed my bed
    with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon.
18 Come, let’s drink our fill of love until morning.
    Let’s enjoy each other’s caresses,
19 for my husband is not home.
    He’s away on a long trip.
20 He has taken a wallet full of money with him
    and won’t return until later this month.”

 

21 So she seduced him with her pretty speech
    and enticed him with her flattery.
22 He followed her at once,
    like an ox going to the slaughter.
He was like a stag caught in a trap,
23     awaiting the arrow that would pierce its heart.
He was like a bird flying into a snare,
    little knowing it would cost him his life.

 

24 So listen to me, my sons,
    and pay attention to my words.
25 Don’t let your hearts stray away toward her.
    Don’t wander down her wayward path.
26 For she has been the ruin of many;
    many men have been her victims.
27 Her house is the road to the grave.
    Her bedroom is the den of death.

Make Your Family Priority

Here is a clarion call to all married couples and parents. You need to rethink and refocus your priority. Nobody grows strong by wishing and hoping, growth comes through deliberate and intentional actions.

The pursuit of financial gain must not be at the expense of our relationships.

The truth is, you must pursue the acquisition of wealth in a manner that respects and favors family life. Here are some questions to ask:

i. How much time do you spend with your spouse and/or children at the weekend?

Recommendation: Anything less than 10 good hours is not good.

ii. How much time do you spend with your family on a weekday? What gets scheduled gets done. Don’t be a weekend-only Father, Mother, or Spouse. You are to be held accountable not the house help!

iii. Do you regularly have meals together as a family? Mealtime offers a good bonding time. 

iv. Do you spend more time playing with your children than on your phone over the internet? Do you watch TV with them or without them? 

Your screen time is less critical, your bonding time is more important. 

v. Does your family pray together? The family that prays together stays together!

vi. Do you help your children with their homework several times a week or read a book with the family? These give you the opportunity to understand them better 

vii. Do you meet with their teachers more than twice a year? Effective learning requires parental involvement, don’t put it off.

viii. Do you talk with your spouse about his/her personal dream and goals on a weekly basis? Reflection Time is called ‘Bonding Time’.

ix. Have you talked to each of your children about the use of TV, Video Games, or the internet? Parental guidance is always advised, to guide the children.

x. Have you talked to your children about their cultural development? What about sexual education talk?

Train up your child in the way he/she should go. You have to talk about everything. Don’t leave them to find out from friends and the internet.

xi. Have you talked to each of your children about their professional future? Prepare them for the future. They are your future!

It’s time to arise and fight for your family. Defend your territory. May you and your family serve the Lord all eternity long. Amen.

 

LET US PRAY:

Lord God, help me to be intentional with my family and relationship life. Strengthen me to eschew all resentments, offenses, bitterness, hurt, and discord.

May I only think about what brings you to honor in the home. Let your love find expression in and through my life. I want more of You and Your Word in my heart and life.

May my family serve God indeed because I’m here. All these I ask through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. Amen.

Sometimes we unintentionally give the wrong impression about spiritual warfare. We know that our enemy is the devil and that we must fight daily to win, but that’s not everything.

If the Christian life were all about fights and battles, it would be tiring to fight every time of the day.

The Christian life is centered on joy and peace. God gives us a great sense of fulfillment, and we’re at rest because we know we honor Him by the way we live.

In today’s scripture, Peter wrote to Christians about their enemy–warning them and urging them to be alert, which is where we often focus our attention.

Just before he wrote those words, however, he said, “Casting the whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully” (1 Peter 5:7).

You must remind yourself of God’s love for you.

Satan tries to destroy your faith with lies like: “If God really cared about you, why would He allow bad things to happen to you?”
“If God truly loved you, would He treat you like that?”

If the devil can make you think you’re not loved or that God doesn’t care about your best interest, he can plant seeds of unbelief.

When struggles, trials, persecution, contradictions, and hardships come your way–and they always do–you have a choice. Choose to enter God’s rest by heeding Peter’s words and handing your care, worries, and concerns to God in prayer. 

No matter the darkness of night or how diabolical, confusing, and uncertain the situation is, you must remind yourself of the following unshakeable and adamant truth;

God is present with you in all situations,

He loves you with perfect love and

He will always protect and provide for you.

 

Never ever allow any seed of unbelief to take root in you, stay rooted in faith.

 

LET US PRAY:

Dear heavenly Father, the enemy tries to fill me with unbelief time and time again and make me deny Your powerful love for me. But like Abraham, I stand firm on Your promises.

I renew my mind with God’s truth every day. I receive the enablement of the Holy Spirit and the mind of Christ.

Thank You for the comfort I find in Your assurance that You’re always with me.
In Jesus’ Name, I pray. Amen.

Rest of God Is Yours

I read something recently called inversion thinking. It’s a principle of investment developed by the bosom friend and partner of one of the richest men in the world. Warren Buffet. His name is Charlie Munger.

The summary of inversion thinking is to look at what made an investment fail and go do the exact opposite.

Our prayer and fasting focus for the outgoing month is entering rest. Please go back and read the scriptures and pray them I urge you.

A short study of Hebrews 3 with a focus on the excerpt above (Vs 12-19) narrows down what made Israel not enter the rest promised by God.

There were two major things, disobedience, and unbelief. If we think deeply, this is the root of Sin.

 

This often happens when out of lack of the right information, fear of the unknown, self-indulgence, or lack of vision, one chooses to doubt the authority of the instructor and the authenticity of the instruction and does not act in line with the truth.

 

So using inversion thinking, if you want to enter the rest of God, obey and believe.

 

Now it looks simple but definitely not easy. However, you should know and realize that God’s instruction is a covenant, a promise that contains life to make it happen. When you choose to keep the focus on Him and stay in faith even when you feel otherwise, then surely we will enter the rest.

 

Friends, I encourage you today to seek to enter the rest of God. You do so by making obedience and faith a habit you cultivate daily.

 

Choose to see your inadequacies through the eyes of faith in God. Listen for His instruction. Submerge your overthinking human logic in God’s word. Then you will press in to and enter the rest indeed.

 

The rest of God is yours… press in and enter!

Dear Father, I pray that you will strengthen me through His Spirit in my inner man to fully grasp the width, length, and height of His love for me. I ask to be filled with the Spirit of wisdom and revelation in the Knowledge of Christ.

One of the major sources of stress, burnout, and guilt is the feeling that we did not do something that seemed important!

How many times have people tried to make you feel guilty about not coming to an event or not helping out in one way or the other? Don’t get me wrong, It is a beautiful thing to be a blessing in as many ways as possible but to do this at the expense of your health and family is not right.

Consider the scripture above. The disciples were faced with a serious challenge that could have affected the very unity of the early church. Still, they had to accept their limitations and focus their strength in the place they considered critical for them.

We all have our critical success points, otherwise called ‘sweet spot’ and these are the places we must concentrate our strengths on if we want to live a life of purpose.

To accomplish this, we must be willing to accept that as wonderful and endued with grace as we are, we are still human and have certain limitations.

We must be humble enough to acknowledge that we need help from others and not be too proud to share some of our so-called responsibilities.

The Apostles decided to concentrate on the Word and Prayers but opened their mind to the idea of others taking on other responsibilities. This is a life lesson you must learn.

Choose the very critical success areas of your life and give them more of your time and energy. For married folks, one of these should be your family. Try not to be such a blessing to the world at the expense of your home. Let your family ‘feel’ you.

For single folks, it could be a service, ministry effort, career development, business initiative, relationship management, or something, anything noble.

As you set priorities and focus on the critical purpose areas, God will honor your integrity and ensure that the other areas you have seemingly ‘left behind’ receive adequate attention from another of His many Sons, Daughters, and Angels.

Learn to work with others and delegate, you cannot do life, purpose, and all alone, you will need the help and assistance of others.

As the popular saying goes; If you want to go fast, go alone but if you want to go far, go together (with others).

 

LET US PRAY:

Dear Lord God Almighty, deliver me from sheer emotionalism. I receive grace to focus on the most critical aspects of my life, ministry, and business. I receive the wisdom to work with others and to delegate appropriately. I receive and lean into the help of the Holy Spirit to succeed.

In Jesus Christ’s Mighty Name, I pray. Amen.

I know we live in uncertain times, and things are happening all over but remember there is a difference between you and them. We know who holds tomorrow.

 

There is no need to fear when you stay in covenant with the creator.

There will be different seasons but never will you be abandoned and helpless for there is a difference.

Dear child of God you must reach a point of faith in God that is higher than your circumstance.

You must reach a point in your walk where you must accept and know that there is a real difference between you and those that do not know the Lord.

You cannot live based on trends, you cannot stay focused on news headlines and worry like them, you cannot fear what they fear, you cannot tremble as they tremble, you cannot faint as they will at the slightest tremor, there is a difference.

Think, Meditate, and speak to yourself daily. Forbid the circumstances and the enemy from disturbing your peace. God, your Father has put His mark on you, you are different.

Put that Faith Into Action, stay in the Father’s rest, and live a life of consecration and distinction!

 

LET US PRAY:

In Jesus’ Name, I declare the line has fallen for me in pleasant places, I have a goodly heritage. I am a King and priest, so I decree that evil is far from me. I abide under the shadow of the Almighty. Shalom unto me, my entire household, and my community today and forevermore. Amen

Great is the Lord, and most worthy of praise,
    in the city of our God, his holy mountain.

3 God is in her citadels; he has shown himself to be her fortress.

In Jesus’ Name, I declare Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised. His praise and presence will forever reign in my life.

As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the Lord surrounds me. The Lord is in the midst of me, I am secured forever.

For God is my God forever and ever and He will be my guide even to the end of time.

I do hear people cursing our nation, the president, and the leaders generally. All they say is doom and gloom.

Did you know that we have been commanded to pray for our leaders? Have you read what the Bible had to say about rulers and government in the text above?

Can you now see the command that has been given to us by God? If you say you love God, you have to obey all He has asked you to do.

When you pray for those in government to rule well, there will be peace in the land. Jeremiah 29:7 says, ” And seek the peace of the city whither I have caused you to be carried away captives, and pray unto the Lord for it: for in the peace thereof shall ye have peace.”  

Praying for godly leaders is productive toward God’s plan and purpose for every nation.

You may feel like you have been praying for your nation yet you see no result. The Bible tells us that the heart of a king is in the hand of the Lord and He can turn it however He wants (Proverbs 21:1).

As believers, we need to pray for all. To pray is within your control, the answer is God’s prerogative. How and when it happens is God’s to do. In all circumstances, you are to pray.

Today, I urge you to put first things first and pray about it all. Pray for your leaders – in the country, in the workplace, and also in the church.

Asides from praying for your government leaders, you also need to pray for your leaders in the church. Pray that God’s constant protection will be around them so that they will not fall into temptation. Pray for them to be strong in faith that they will lead with integrity and skill. 

 

Today, can you put the blame game, lamentations, misgivings, and complaints aside and just pray for the leaders in government, in your workplace, and especially in the church?

God hears your prayers and will turn things out for the ultimate good.

LET US PRAY:

In Jesus’ Name, I declare peace be unto this nation, Peace, security, justice, and abundant prosperity unto all the cities in this land of my dwelling. Every enemy of the well-being of the state shall be frustrated and utterly defeated. Every agent of terror and discord is removed and uprooted.

I ask God to grant the leaders in the church and all that is in a position of authority in this nation wisdom and revelation to lead with integrity and skill. They will not lose their mind but will be protected from the deceitfulness of riches. 

May the fear of God permeate the land, the leaders, and the led. I command every storm of war, insurrection, desperation, and insurgencies to cease across this nation and the nations of the earth. 

In Jesus’ Name, I Pray. Amen
