Change Your Thinking

‘ Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.’

Top of the enemy’s agenda for waging war on our minds and derailing our very lives is the power of suggestion.

His plan is to get you on board a wrong train of thought that leads away from God’s purpose. Remember the garden, it was just a ‘harmless’ suggestion to Eve and Adam.

With this knowledge, you can get off the wrong train of thought at any point on the journey — by pushing the emergency stop button and choosing to board a different train of thought. And the way to do this is by renewing your mind.

Renewing your mind empowers you to be the one managing your mind — and it brings peace. It brings healing. It brings freedom.

God reveals this transforming power in Romans 12:1–2: And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him. ² Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.

Even when you have turned your life over to Christ, the enemy will whisper lies to you every now and then — lies that will limit your life and weren’t based on truth. That’s what he does.

The devil and his demons make up lies and spread them nonstop. You hear a constant barrage of, “You can’t, you won’t, you’ll never be, you really don’t have to” or, “You’ll always be… ”

Our wounds of mistakes are constantly poked by these accusations and never allowed to heal if we believe them and repeat them to ourselves.

Satan is the father of lies and the accuser of us all. John 8:44  …the devil… When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.

He doesn’t know how to speak anything but lies. Always stay on guard, wherever your mind goes, your emotions and feelings will follow.

However, by regular Bible study, praying, and becoming a part of a community of Christ-followers, you will learn to change the way you think and start to think like God.

The more you study the Bible, the more you will realize that your thoughts about yourself and so many areas in your life are far away from God’s thoughts.

You will realize that you should not believe all your feelings and thoughts — especially when they contradict the Word of God, which is the absolute truth.

LET US PRAY:

Dear Heavenly Father, I repent of every negative and wrong thought that I have allowed in my mind. Purge my mind and thought-life of every ungodliness, lies, limiting beliefs, and wrong value.

I will no longer copy the behaviors, traditions, and customs of this world. I am transformed daily as I change the way I think to the way God thinks. I have the mind of Christ and it is manifest in my life.

In Jesus’ Name, I pray.
