I want My Inheritance
I Want My Inheritance
The daughters of Zelophehad …came forward and stood before Moses, Eleazar the priest, the leaders and the whole assembly at the entrance to the tent of meeting and said, “Our father died in the wilderness. He was not among Korah’s followers, who banded together against the Lord, but he died for his own sin and left no sons. Why should our father’s name disappear from his clan because he had no son? Give us property among our father’s relatives.”
– Numbers 27:2-4 | NIV
Many of us have been taught to wait for life to hand us what we “deserve,” assuming that being good, faithful, and quiet is enough. But in the kingdom of God, inheritance is not accessed by silence but by spiritual demand. The daughters of Zelophehad were justified, but their inheritance remained locked away in a broken system until they spoke up.
“Life is not responding to you at the level of what you deserve. Life is responding to you at the level of what you demand.” In life, you don’t often get what you deserve; you get what you demand.
The daughters of Zelophehad broke the mold. They challenged deeply ingrained protocols that denied women property rights in ancient Israel. They didn’t do this through protest or rebellion—but through a righteous insistence that they were their father’s daughters and entitled to what was rightfully theirs.
This is not just about land or gender—it’s about mindsets. Many of us are still navigating life with inherited paradigms that limit our access to God’s best for us. Until you challenge what has been normalized, you cannot step into what has been allocated.
“Except the word confronts you at a personal level, it cannot change your life.”
The Bible says we are joint heirs with Christ (Romans 8:17), yet we often live beneath our calling. Why? Because we’ve mistaken compliance for submission, silence for virtue, and process for perpetual postponement.
God affirmed the daughters of Zelophehad not because of their gender, but because of their bold faith. They had an inheritance consciousness. They understood that:
- Their identity gave them access.
- Their voice was the vehicle.
- Their courage unlocked a new protocol for an entire nation.
You, too, must come to a point where you say:
“I want my portion. I want my inheritance. I’m ready for it.”
Think It Over
- What “normalized nonsense” have I accepted that needs to be challenged?
- In what areas of my life have I been deserving, but not demanding?
- What paradigm or family narrative do I need to unlearn to step into divine design?
Next Steps
- Identify one area of misalignment (e.g., finances, relationships, spiritual discipline) and declare what God has promised you in that area.
- Write it down: “I want my inheritance in _____.”
- Challenge the inherited lie with truth from Scripture (e.g., Philippians 4:19, Psalm 16:6, Galatians 3:29).
- Speak to it daily—like the daughters of Zelophehad, approach the “decision gates” of your life with clarity and courage.
“Don’t wait to be invited. You are your Father’s daughter, just as your brother is your Father’s son.” — DDK
It’s time to rise. You are justified. Now go and demand what has always been yours.
Let Us Pray
Lord, open my eyes to every area where I have accepted less than You intended. Give me the boldness to speak up, stand up, and walk into my divine inheritance. I declare that I am my Father’s child—an heir of grace, purpose, wealth, peace, and power. I reject limiting patterns and outdated mindsets. I align my life with Your original design for me.
In Jesus’ mighty name, I pray.
Amen.
