Heart of Gratitude
Heart of Gratitude
‘It is good to praise the Lord and make music to your name, O Most High, proclaiming your love in the morning and your faithfulness at night,
to the music of the ten-stringed lyre and the melody of the harp.For you make me glad by your deeds, Lord; I sing for joy at what your hands have done. How great are your works, Lord, how profound your thoughts! Senseless people do not know, fools do not understand’
– Psalm 19:1-6 | NIV
‘Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits’
– Psalm 103:2 | NIV
Welcome to Day Two of our June 2025 Prayer and Fasting journey. In this sacred season of the Capstone Convention 2025, as God unveils His heart to us, one truth is becoming clearer: we are part of a Kingdom of Greater Things.
To fully receive and walk in this revelation, there is a heart posture we must not only recognize but fully embrace. Yesterday, we talked about a heart of flesh, a posture of humility. Today, it is about the heart of gratitude.
Gratitude is more than a feeling—it’s a spiritual strategy and discipline. It is the intentional act of being thankful, focusing not on what we lack or long for, but on what God has already graciously provided. Gratitude grounds us in the present and prepares our hearts to trust God for the future.
When we give thanks, we magnify the blessings already in our lives and build faith for those we are still praying for. Even modern psychology echoes what Scripture has long affirmed: a heart filled with gratitude leads to greater peace, emotional strength, and even physical well-being.
As a believer, one powerful practice is to keep a gratitude journal—a written memorial of God’s faithfulness in your life. Reflect on the past months, years, or even decades. What has God done in you and through you? Where has He shown up when you least expected it? As you write, you’ll see His fingerprints all over your story. This habit will not only deepen your appreciation but also strengthen your confidence in what He is yet to do.
Psalm 103 reminds us to “forget not all His benefits.” Recalling what God has done helps us stay grounded in truth. It lifts our eyes to His greatness and places our struggles in proper perspective. When you remember His goodness, you find the strength to face today and hope for tomorrow.
Take a few quiet moments today to write down the things you’re grateful for. Let your heart reflect. Let your words flow freely. You will be amazed by just how faithful God has been.
Don’t let the enemy deceive you into complaining or discouragement because of prayers that seem unanswered. Your very breath is proof that God is not finished with you yet. Think of the dangers He shielded you from—the unseen mercies that carried you through.
Now that your heart is aligned in gratitude, respond with worship. Share your testimony. Sing songs of joy. Dance like David. Give thanks—not just for what God has done, but for what you believe He will do. For the God who has been faithful is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Gratitude shifts the central focus from you and places it on God, the Almighty.
Let Us Pray
Psalm 19
The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
Day after day they pour forth speech;
night after night they reveal knowledge.
They have no speech, they use no words;
no sound is heard from them.
Yet their voice goes out into all the earth,
their words to the ends of the world.
In the heavens God has pitched a tent for the sun.
It is like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber,
like a champion rejoicing to run his course.
It rises at one end of the heavens
and makes its circuit to the other;
nothing is deprived of its warmth.
The law of the Lord is perfect,
refreshing the soul.
The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy,
making wise the simple.
The precepts of the Lord are right,
giving joy to the heart.
The commands of the Lord are radiant,
giving light to the eyes.
The fear of the Lord is pure,
enduring forever.
The decrees of the Lord are firm,
And all of them are righteous.
They are more precious than gold,
than much pure gold;
They are sweeter than honey,
than honey from the honeycomb.
By them your servant is warned;
in keeping them there is great reward.
But who can discern their own errors?
Forgive my hidden faults.
Keep your servant also from willful sins;
May they not rule over me.
Then I will be blameless,
innocent of great transgression.
May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart
be pleasing in your sight,
Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.
In Jesus’ Name, I pray, Amen
