Never Settle
“By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going. By faith he made his home in the promised land like a stranger in a foreign country; he lived in tents… For he was looking forward to the city with foundations, whose architect and builder is God.”
— Hebrews 11:8–10 (NIV)
Abraham lived in tents on land that was already his by promise. He could have built walls, laid permanent foundations, and settled down. He did not. That was not a sign of carelessness; it was a deliberate mindset. He deeply understood a vital kingdom truth: if you stop moving with God, you stop growing in God.
The pilgrim mindset is not about restlessness, it is about refusal. It is a refusal to let your current experience or comfort zone become your final spiritual destination. Abraham kept his eyes anchored on a city he could not yet see because he knew there was always more to discover in God.
The moment a believer decides they have “arrived” is the exact moment spiritual growth stops. There is always a city on the horizon. Our journey here on earth is a continuous pilgrimage, and it is entirely about building a divine legacy. Keep pressing forward.
Examine Your Heart:
In which area of your spiritual life have you quietly settled? Have you hit a plateau in your prayer life, in your study of the Word, or in your level of obedience? Make one deliberate, intentional move today to go deeper. Abraham packed up his tent and moved. What will you do?
Daily Prayer
“Father, give me Abraham’s mindset. Grant me the courage to keep moving, keep believing, and keep pressing toward what I cannot yet see. Deliver me from the comfort of settling or becoming stagnant. I know there is always more of You to discover. Lead me onward. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
