Person of the Holy Spirit
Today’s Teaching
The Person Of The Holy Spirit
“And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, to be with you forever—the Spirit of truth…”
— John 14:16–17 (NIV)
The Holy Spirit is not an “it” or an impersonal force. He is God Himself, the third person of the trinity, fully divine, fully personal, and fully active.
- Another Helper: Jesus calls Him “another Helper” (Paraklētos) in John 14:16—meaning One just like Jesus, continuing His work in us.
- The Spirit of Truth: He teaches us and reminds us of God’s Word (John 14:26).
- The Breath of God: He gives life, power, and renewal to our spirits (Genesis 2:7; Titus 3:5).
What the Holy Spirit Does in the Believer
- Indwells the believer — You are God’s temple (1 Corinthians 3:16).
- Transforms character — Producing the fruit of the Spirit within you (Galatians 5:22–23).
- Empowers for service — Distributing spiritual gifts for ministry (1 Corinthians 12:4–11).
- Guides and leads — “Those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God” (Romans 8:14).
- Comforts and strengthens — Jesus explicitly introduces Him as our Comforter (John 14:16).
- Convicts of sin — Mercifully drawing our hearts into repentance (John 16:8).
The Spirit is constantly shaping you into the image of Christ, empowering you to live a life you could never live on your own. The Holy Spirit is not distant. He is not silent. He is not passive.
He is present, speaking, moving, and forming Christ in you. Your relationship with Him is meant to be daily, intimate, and transformative.
Reflect Today:
Where might the Spirit be nudging you today? Toward obedience, toward courage, toward surrender, or toward deeper worship? The best life a believer can live is one completely surrendered to the leading of the Holy Spirit.
Daily Prayer
“Holy Spirit, I welcome you today. Thank you for living in me, guiding me, and shaping me into the likeness of Christ. Open my ears to hear your voice, open my heart to receive your leading, and open my life to your transforming power. Fill me afresh with your presence. Empower me to walk in love, truth, and boldness. Help me to bear your fruit and use your gifts for the glory of Jesus. Amen.”
